Before & After: A Pune Bungalow's Exterior Transformation

This bungalow hadn't been repainted in over ten years. The owners came to us after noticing damp patches appearing on an interior wall every monsoon ? a classic sign of exterior waterproofing failure, not just a tired paint job.

The Inspection

Our site visit found three separate issues: hairline cracks across the exterior plaster, a failed waterproofing layer on the terrace above the affected wall, and heavy algae growth on the shaded north face.

The Plan

We scoped this as a combined exterior repaint + waterproofing job:

  • Full pressure-wash and scraping of the old, flaking paint
  • Crack filling and an anti-algae/fungal treatment before any primer
  • A weatherproof elastomeric coating system, chosen for its crack-bridging properties
  • PU membrane waterproofing on the terrace section directly above the damp interior wall

The Result

Once we found and sealed the actual water entry point on the terrace, the interior damp patch stopped reappearing ? proving it really was an exterior waterproofing issue all along, not a plumbing leak as the owners had originally suspected.

The exterior now has a 5-7 year performance window before it'll need attention again, and the terrace waterproofing carries a warranty under our Signature plan.

The takeaway: if you're seeing damp patches indoors, don't assume it's plumbing first. Have the exterior and terrace checked ? it's a far more common culprit than people expect.
